Workspace lifecycle

How Fungies keeps your workspace active, what happens if it goes inactive, and how to bring it back.

Fungies never deletes a workspace the moment it goes quiet. Instead, an inactive workspace moves through a series of recoverable stages, and your data stays safe until the very last step. This page explains exactly how that works, when we email you, and what keeps a workspace protected forever.

The short version: sign in every couple of months and you never have to think about this. Any workspace that has ever taken a payment is kept active forever and is never paused or deleted.

What keeps a workspace active

A workspace stays active as long as any one of the following is true:

You sign in regularly

Signing in at least once every couple of months keeps a free workspace active.

You've made a sale

Any workspace that has ever taken a paid order is kept active forever.

You have an active subscription

Workspaces with a live subscription are always kept.

You've connected Stripe

Connecting a Stripe account keeps the workspace, whether or not you finished onboarding — and a later hold on a live account doesn't change that either.

If none of these apply — typically an empty or abandoned workspace on the free plan — it becomes eligible for the inactivity lifecycle below.

API calls don't count as signing in. A server-to-server integration can call the API every day and the workspace still counts as inactive, because the clock tracks dashboard sign-ins. While a workspace is paused or archived its API keys stop working too, and they start working again once it's back — so if you run an integration on a free workspace with no sales, sign in.

The inactivity lifecycle

If a free workspace stays inactive, it moves through these stages. Every stage before deletion is fully recoverable. We email you before the store goes offline, and again when it does.

Heads-up email (7 days before)

We email the workspace owner about a week before anything happens, so you have time to sign in and keep the workspace active.

Paused

The workspace and its store are taken offline, but nothing is deleted — your data, settings, store and custom domain all stay exactly as they were. Bringing it back is a single switch on our side.

Archived (30 days later)

If the workspace stays paused for about a month, it's archived. Still nothing is deleted — your data, settings and custom domain are all retained, and the workspace can be restored exactly as it was.

Permanently deleted

If the workspace is still untouched about two weeks after archiving, it and its data are permanently deleted, and the custom domain is released.

Deletion is the only irreversible step, and it is the one stage we don't email about today — don't wait for a reminder. If a workspace matters to you, sign in or contact us while it's still paused or archived.

How to bring a workspace back

A paused or archived workspace doesn't appear in your workspace list yet. Email support@fungies.io from the owner's address with the workspace name and we'll switch it back on — your store, products and settings come back exactly as they were. It keeps its custom domain too — unless you've since pointed that domain at a different workspace, in which case it stays with the new one.

Restoring a paused workspace yourself, without contacting us, is on its way.

If a workspace has already been permanently deleted, it can't be recovered — contact support and we'll help you get set up again.

Workspaces that are never swept

Some workspaces are exempt from the inactivity lifecycle entirely and are always kept active:

Kept forever when…Why
The workspace has ever taken a paid orderFungies keeps your transaction records as your Merchant of Record
It has an active subscriptionYou're an active, paying customer
It has a connected Stripe accountYou started setting up payments — whether or not onboarding finished, and whatever holds Stripe puts on it later

Even after a workspace is deleted, Fungies retains the invoices and financial records required by law and by our role as Merchant of Record. Deletion removes your store and its content — not the tax/accounting trail for past sales.
